Winter Park CO
Winter Park, known for its backcountry style bowls, specifically Mary Jane.
Pros:
- Large area of terrain, while most is blue runs or higher there are a good amount of beginner runs as well
- No where near the crowds and life lines as some of the other resorts
- Some of the best bowls that are closest to the real back country, all accessed by lift or a short hike
- Large terrain park that requires a special pass so kooks are kept out keeping it less crowded and filled with others who can handle the terrain
- Wide variety of lodging options and a large town with all the necessities
Cons:
- must take a large mountain pass to access it, can be extremely hazardous in bad weather
- A abundance of moguls on a lot of the runs (can be considered a pro for some)
- Great distance between the other resorts
Conclusion:
If your looking for a vacation to a ski resort where your kids can learn and you can go up to the big bowls this place has it all. The town itself has everything you need from fine dining and lodging to cheap food and college budget hotels. This place can be a mogul skiings dream but a snowboarders nightmare when it has not had fresh snow in a while.
