Arapahoe Basin
"Abasin" is a small, early-opening/late closing date mountain that most people find themselves starting and ending their season on.
Pros:
- Generally opens in mid-october, quite a few weeks earlier than the other resorts
- Closes extremely late compared to the other vail resorts, generally is open a few weeks into june if the snow season has been plentiful
- In the middle season there are hardly any people there and has a much more "locals" vibe to it with not many tourists if any
- Has some really good bowl riding on a pow day for a smaller resort
Cons:
- Terrain is limited, it is the smallest Vail resort there is
- Can be extremely crowded in the early weeks of the season and during the late season once the other resorts have closed
- Only a few runs for beginners
Conclusion: If your itching to hit the slopes in October or June this is your destination to hit. Also if you love that small mountain vibe where the lines are short and the snow stays fresh, this is your place.
